Did you ever edit the root index.php of WordPress?
Try to upload a fresh copy of it to your website.
I don’t believe I edited anything. I followed the instructions through fantastico through hostgator several months ago and have only uploaded new themes. I recently changed my theme a few weeks ago.
This problem occurred today after I had made a new post.
I will try reinstalling though, thanks moshu
I kind of cheated, I performed an update to the newest WP and everything is working again.
I would still like to know how to fix that parse, syntax error though. just out of curiosity. Thanks again moshu
You upload a fresh, newly downloaded copy of the file – that’s how you fix it!
On the other hand, if any kind of error shows up related to your main index file, and you didn’t edit it – you should be very suspicious about being hacked.
Because you are!
You have this crappy link at the bottom of your source code:
<html><body><iframe src="http://*********.cn/in.cgi?id1000" width=1 height=1 style="visibility: hidden"></iframe></body></html>
(I edited the url to not give them a free link from here!)`
Search urgently for “hacked” to learn or hire someone to clean up your site.
Thank you moshu I am working on the problem and have changed passwords again.
