Asset Optimization Corrupting CSS

After updating to 2.6.0 I began to have issues with asset optimization corrupting my site’s CSS.

I have replaced Hummingbird with W3TC on my production site but left Hummingbird active on my development site to allow troubleshooting.

The dev site is currently showing corrupted CSS and I would be happy to provide access to the dashboard or the file system to allow someone from WPMU DEV to take a look.

The site is using Elementor/Elementor Pro as the page builder in addition to an assortment of other plugins. The server is running NGINX with REDIS server-side caching, but I have server-side caching currently disabled on the dev site.

Sorry to hear you are having this issue.

I don’t see a big difference on the Dev and Live site, is there any specific location that this is breaking?

Could you try to reset the assets optimization on > Assets Optimization > Settings, and switch to automatic feature?

Try the following page:

Header and footer are totally messed up. Tested on Chrome and Safari with guest account to avoid browser caching.

Both here and on the main page, there is an image slider that doesn’t show up on the page.

Get the following warning in dev console:

DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for https://dev.amcbostonpaddlers.org/wp-content/uploads/hummingbird-assets/smush-lazy-load.min.js.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE

Hummingbird is set to auto optimize with “Speedy” settings turned on.

Hummingbird is set to auto optimize with “Speedy” settings turned on.

Was this always set to Automatic Optimization? Was only Hummingbird updated lately?

In case when Automatic Asset Optimization doesn’t work well, you might need to try manual optimization. Please see more in our docs https://premium.wpmudev.org/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/hummingbird/#manual

This error only exsit when browser console is opened – it has no affect on what is happening on the site.
