Assigned menu disappear

    Hi there,

    I have created a predefined demo without using a XML file. The predefined demo only consists of a .dat and .wie file.

    My issue is that when importing the predefined demo, my assigned menu gets removed. How can I avoid this? I don’t want people’s menus to get removed when installing the predefined demo.

    I’ve seen the FAQ article on how to automatically assign a menu when importing, but this would really only be helpful if the predefined demo also includes a XML file.

    Would really appreciate some help on this matter!

    Hi,

    aha, I see.

    By default, in the .dat file (customizer settings) there is also a “nav_menu_locations” option, which defines, which menu locations will have which menu assigned. This is what is causing the issues for you.

    I think, that if you remove the whole “nav_menu_locations” from your .dat file, this issue should be solved.

    Since the data in .dat file is serialized, it’s a bit harder to edit, so I would recommend you to use this editor, to remove the “nav_menu_locations” section:
