OK. version 1.9.1 is now up, and you have two new options on the attachaway list shortcode generator. You have multiple orderby options to choose from, and the ability to choose ascending or descending order.
Thanks very much for sorting this – I can see now that it displays nicely in alphabetical order. Is it easy to allow the order that the files are listed in on the attachment page, or does WordPress not give you that much info?

Yeah, the “menu_order” option should do what you’re looking for.
Ah, that’s the option which doesn’t work then.
My shortcode is:

I use attachaway in conjunction with another plugin, WP Better Attachments. On a given page, it allows you to drag and drop the attachments in the order you want them in, then if you choose “menu_order” in your attachaway shortcode, they will display in that order. See the second screenshot here for the drag+drop utility found in the metabox below the page editor, with WP Better Attachments installed:
