Hi, I use WPForms Lite and it’s been working fine until now.

When someone enters the form and ‘submit’, the error returned is: attempt to submit corrupted post data. Everything was up-to-date at the time (themes, plugins).

I’ve tried going through the reCAPTCHA and taking the website back to a known time it was working. It worked for the first test and then stopped again (I’ve not re-updated any plugins from that time).

I’ve tried on safari and google chrome, emptying the cache each time.

On the console area, it mentions ‘jquery is not defined’. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi @beanto90,

Thanks for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear about the “Attempt to submit corrupted post data” error you’re seeing.

From the URL you shared, it looks like your page was built with Elementor. In that case, please make sure you’re using the WPForms widget as explained in this guide.

Also, I noticed you’re using the SiteGround Optimizer plugin. Some of the JavaScript optimization settings in that plugin can sometimes cause issues — especially when using Google reCAPTCHA v2 Checkbox, as in your form.

To fix this, please review and adjust your optimization settings by following our SiteGround Optimizer setup guide. Once done, don’t forget to purge your cache and test your form again using a private/incognito window to see if the issue persists.

I hope that does the trick!

If you’re still running into trouble, please share the details from WPForms > Tools > System Info (screenshot for reference). This information may help us better understand the issue you’re experiencing.

    Thanks!

Hi @rsouzaam thanks for your reply.

Yes, I’ve checked and have the WPForms widget.

Doing the form test under ‘preview mode’ on the WPForms plugin works fine, but it has the error when attempting to submit on the contact page of the site.

I’ve also followed your suggestion about the SiteGround Optimiser, disabled both, purged cache and attempted the form via two different browsers in incognito, but same error unfortunately.

@rsouzaam I’ve had another thorough look through today and noticed that by deactivating the Speed Optimizer plug in, the issue resolved! I’ve reinstalled it, disabled all functions, and switch by switch turned them back on to see which one causes the error. I think I found it, however, it was one of the same that I disabled yesterday and the error still showed after several times :/ I’ll keep it on the current setting and will wait until tomorrow and recheck again every so often. If it’s still fixed by then, I’ll close this as resolved. Thanks for the suggestion that it could be the Optimizer plugin.

    Hi @beanto90,

    Thanks for the update!

I was able to successfully submit your form using an incognito window (screenshot).

It looks like your fix in the Speed Optimizer plugin did the trick! However, based on some of my tests, the issue can still occur if Google reCAPTCHA doesn’t load properly.

If the issue comes up again, I recommend reaching out to the Speed Optimizer support forum and sharing the details of the issue. They should be able to provide more guidance on how to avoid the issue — particularly around ensuring Google reCAPTCHA loads correctly.

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.

    Thanks!

Thanks @rsouzaam – I’ve also had success with the form this morning 🙂

I suppose another alternative will be to not use the plugin at all if problems appear again with the reCAPTCHA. Would there be any other free plugins that you could suggest as alternatives to Speed Optimizer, please?

    Hi @beanto90,

    Thanks for your follow-up question!

If you’re using SiteGround as your hosting provider, it’s recommended to use their Speed Optimizer plugin.

However, looking at the System Info, I noticed that you also have the Jetpack Boost plugin active. In this case, I suggest checking if the following two settings are disabled (screenshot):

    • Cache Site Pages — To avoid conflicts with the Speed Optimizer plugin. It’s best to use only one caching solution on your site to prevent potential conflicts that may cause errors with your form.
    • Defer Non-Essential JavaScript — JavaScript optimization can sometimes interfere with how forms work, so it’s safer to keep this turned off.

Here’s what I recommend for the next steps:

    1. Make sure both of those options are disabled in Jetpack Boost.
    2. Then, purge the cache using the Speed Optimizer plugin.
    3. Monitor the site over the next few days to see if the issue is solved.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions or run into any trouble, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

    Thanks!

Hi @rsouzaam thanks for your reply.

I’ve checked and those two functions are already disabled from my Jetpack plugin 🙂

I’ll mark this thread as resolved now. Thanks again for your help!
