    Hello,

I am receiving the following error while trying to set up the Google Site Kit plugin:

“The request sent to the authentication proxy failed due to the following error: site not found.”

I would like to note that there are no server-side issues. I have already confirmed this with my hosting provider, and everything appears to be working correctly on the server.

To resolve the issue, I have tried the following steps multiple times:

    • Completely removing and reinstalling the Site Kit plugin
    • Disconnecting and reconnecting the site
    • Attempting a fresh setup from scratch

Unfortunately, the error persists despite these efforts.

I kindly request your support to help identify the cause of this issue and advise on how it can be resolved.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

    Best regards,

Thanks for getting in touch @profdrugursoy, and also for sharing the troubleshooting steps already attempted. Based on your description, I do suspect that there is a site URL or callback URL registered on the Site Kit service, that differs to your current setup. The error can be caused by a change your WordPress address, or change your wp-admin path and the plugin doesn’t recognize this change based on what was collected during a previous setup.

To ensure you can complete set up, please go ahead and use the reset option via Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit. This may allow you to complete Site Kit set up. If you encounter the same after resetting, please share the following:

    1. Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. Do you recall having changed your wp-admin path, your site URL or your WordPress files directory since?

Do let me know if you have any questions with the above. Thank you.

I can see you already shared your Site Health information, many thanks @profdrugursoy. From reviewing the details and performing some checks, I don’t see anything obvious that would be causing this error. Please do go ahead and performing a site reset as suggested above, and let me know how it does. If the same error occurs, let me know if you changed your wp-admin path, your site URL or your WordPress files at some stage previously.
