Author Boxes menu item missing

    We have two sites running Version 4.3.1 and one has the Auhtors Boxes menu as normal, and the other one appears to be missing. If i directly navigate to the URL Authors boxes lives at- I can get there fine. Just can’t get to it via point and click.

    Any idea why it disappeared on one site?

    (I tried rolling back to 4.3.0 to see if that made a difference, and it did not.)

    Hi @gmw0113

    Thanks for using PublishPress Authors.

    Could you confirm there is no plugin conflicting here? You could confirm this by temporary deactivate all plugins except PublishPress Authors, and see if you can notive Authors Boxes menu showing.

    If it is showing, then one of your plugin is affecting the output. You will need to activate the plugin one by one to find out which plugin cause this.

    Hi Riza,

    I can confirm that it is neither a plugin, nor a theme conflict- I disabled all plugins except AuthorPress. And I tried a 202X theme from WordPress- no success- still missing on the menu.

    @gmw0113 Okay, if it’s not plugin conflict, my next guess was related to permissions.

    Can you please check if that user has the “ppma manage author categories” capability?

    You can use plugin like PublishPress Capabilities to add it.

    I don’t see any of those. What section are you looking at?

    If I click “PublishPress Capabilities” which presumably… is the correct section, I see nothing similar to your screenshot.

    I see:

     manage capabilities dashboard manage capabilities roles manage capabilities manage capabilities editor features manage capabilities admin features manage capabilities admin menus manage capabilities frontend features manage capabilities profile features manage capabilities nav menus manage capabilities user testing manage capabilities backup manage capabilities settings

    Hello again Riza,

    The author capability was off for some reason- turning it back on resolved the matter. FYI this was on Admin level user~

    @gmw0113 We did not see this in fresh WordPress installation. We will monitor this issue for now in case we receive similar report in the future.
