Author cannot access Admin Page

I am creating a website with multiple authors.
I have created test users to make sure it works.
Until a few hours ago, my user that had the role of “author” could access http://localhost:80/wordpress/wp-admin/ (using MAMP and running locally). Now, I will get an error that says

You are not allowed to access this part of the site

What’s going on?
I have capability manager installed, is it possible that something within my admin settings are interfering with author settings?

Please help.
