Author role can’t create new post

Hi guys, so i’m working on a site that’s using this plugin. I created a “Author” user account, but when I log in with this “Author” account, all i can see on the left hand side of the dashboard is:
Knowledge Base, Media, Profile, collapse menu.

I’ve used other roles management plugins before, and normal the author account by default can create new posts, upload to media library etc.

I went into the capability editor, but all i can see is “editing capabilities”, deletion capabilities” and “reading”. No obvious settings for “creating/writing”.

please help
