Auto-Generated Front Page Slider & Custom Post Types

I’m using The Events Calendar which creates custom post types for each event you create. Within the settings of The Events Calendar you can select to treat the events as standard posts. Then, if you look at the posts category all the events and other posts show. However, the functionality of the front page slider is still only looking at standard posts and not looking at the events. Is there anyway to point the slider to a specific post type?
