Hello @gcsaudi
Thanks for reaching out. Can you check if you have media pages enabled/disabled in WordPress > Yoast SEO > Settings > Advanced > Media Pages?

It is disabled.
Hi
When you upload an image to WordPress, your site automatically creates a dedicated page for that file. This page doesn’t have a lot of content and is considered a thin content page by Google.
When you have the WordPress > Yoast SEO > Settings > Advanced > Media Pages are disabled, then Yoast SEO automatically redirect attachment page URLs to the actual image, preventing thin content on your site. However, if you wish to stop the redirect from the media page, kindly enable the media page from WordPress > Yoast SEO > Settings > Advanced > Media Pages. Then save the settings.

Hi
The original link is not for the image link, it is for the brand name or a page that matches the name of the image.
The issue is likely because you have the a page with the same name as the image. WordPress requires that your posts/pages/taxonomies/images have unique slugs. Can you rename the image distinctly and re-upload? That should fix the issue.

They have the same name, but different paths as I have mentioned above:
For example if I link a page to this link:
https://xx/brand/dior/
When you click on that link, you will be redirected to:
https://xx/wp-content/uploads/dior.jpg
Also, as soon as I disable YOAST the issue goes away and everything is back to normal.
Hi @gcsaudi
I tried to replicate the scenario from my test site. Please confirm if I am following the correct steps below:
- I created a post with the title person and added some content.
- I have an image which have the same file name person.png.
- Next, I created another post named “testing same post and image name” and added the link to the post I created with the title person.
I noticed the post link does not redirect to the image file. So can you kindly check:
- What is the version of your WordPress?
- What is the version of your Yoast SEO plugin?
