htaccess files are already designed to automatically update. So there is nothing that you can change. I guess there is something on the sites that did not automatically update the root htaccess that is preventing the htaccess file automatic update?
Are you sure they did not get automatically updated? I’ve seen some people copy the top of the root htaccess file into a BPS Custom Code text box and that could cause some problems I guess. At bare minimum the BPS version number in the root htaccess file would be wrong.
You can run the Setup Wizard, but check BPS Custom Code first and make sure none of the Custom Code text boxes have this in them: # BULLETPROOF x.x SECURE .HTACCESS – where x.x is another BPS root htaccess file version and not the current version: # BULLETPROOF 3.6 SECURE .HTACCESS
