Automated conversion process

Hi, I have just tried the plugin and I must say that it is very performant.
I had to change the conversion method by excluding the writing of the .htaccess file, the result is optimal.
One thing is still unclear to me, once the first conversion process is done, for subsequent uploads of images to the media folder, is the conversion automatic or do I have to proceed manually?
