Currently the plugin does not support automatic transaction capture based on status. However, you can enable the plugin to only authorize a payment and then via your admin order page within WordPress you can capture the authorized amount.

Thanks but ideally looking to automate the workflow of capturing based on order status in the same way that Stripe offers as this makes my whole process automated.
Is this on the road map at all?
We have discussed this and are considering offering it in a later release sometime before the holiday season.
@fergusga1815, for clarification are you referring to the use of webhooks to automatically update your orders when the transaction goes from submitted for settlement to settled?
Or are you referring to the amount being captured when you set the order status to complete?
Please be specific as possible as I am not familiar with how Stripe automates their process.
In Stripe (and in PayPal Standard in the upcoming 2.7 release) they have the functionality to automatically capture the amount when the order status is set to complete.

It sounds as if you still have to manually set the order status to complete though no?
If not then what is triggering the order status going to complete?
