I am having the exact same issue. Can’t seem to find any cause or resolution.
Thanks for the links. Checked through all of those and tried everything list, but no luck.
I updated from 3.0.2 to 3.0.4 manually, and updated 2 of the 3 plugins that needed updating manually. For the last plugin that needs updating (which is not active), I still can’t update automatically, I get the same blank screen problem. So if it’s a bug it’s not fixed in 3.0.4.
I never had a problem prior to 3.0.2.
I have version 2.8 and want to upgrade to 3.0.4 and when I view the dashboard there is nothing there that says automatic update or anything anywhere about plugins. I don’t understand. Across the top of the admin page it says “3.0.4 available, contact site administrator”. But I am the site administrator. Does anyone know if I’m not seeing the automatic upgrade option because for some reason it’s not viewing me as the site admin? Arghh!!!
Disappointing that there appears to be no fix that is universal.
I have gone through many ideas and nothing has worked for me.
Good luck,
Bill
Still no fix. I did an automatic installation of WordPress with GoDaddy and then it was able to upgrade automatically. Perhaps there is something with older versions or the manual way to upgrade. If anyone figures it out let me know. I have over 10 sites to upgrade and would prefer not to do it all manually.
i have the same problem…
how admin doesn’t do anything about this? I’ve been searching for answers in this forum, in google, in yahoo but not luck… i think this is a major problem.
It is hard to complain if you are given a system for free…but I do agree that it should be supported.
I have decided to upgrade manually.
I also decided to reduce the number of plugins i have so that made it more bearable.
Hope it works out for others.
Bill
