Hi @amburtt
We cannot replicate this issue. Could you confirm if you are on the latest version?
Also do you use another plugin that related to user or author thing?
Thanks,
Thank you @rizaardiyanto. I am using the latest version of the Author plugin.
I also use two other plugins that utilise user name and profile information. They are (a) Paid Memberships Pro which Contributors use to create an account and (b) Front End Posts which Contributors use to post in the front end of my website.
I may be able to offer a clue to the problem which I found after writing my first message in this thread. When I enable the “guest” author option in the Author plugin, Contributors are NOT automatically mapped in the Author profile on joining the website. When I stopped using a “guest” author, Contributors are then automatically mapped as intended. So it seemed to have something to do with the “guest” author, but that’s a guess.
While this did not directly solve the problem, it allows me to use the Author plugin. Now, Contributors join and automatically get an author profile. When they post from the front end, and before I publish the post, I add a mapped default user to the top of the authors list using the drop-down box. The default user is then shown as the publisher of the post AND co-author of the post with the Contributor. A good practical solution for my needs.
Sorry which “guest” setting are you referring to?
Any author name you create in the settings as the default publisher of the post.
Unfortunately, I’m still unable to replicate the issue. If you are able to replicate this issue on 2nd site, feel free to submit bug report on: https://github.com/publishpress/PublishPress-Authors/issues
