• For every request to our server, Autoptimize generates more than 10 requests, bringing our server down when traffic is high.

How can I reduce this to one request?

After a closer look, I can say that some of the requests are normal (like line 1 of my code above), but for the most page impressions I get up to 20 requests from Autoptimize. In total this morning: 20.000-page impressions -> 315.000 requests to our server.

that’s because you have both “aggregate CSS” @loano1 so AO is only minifying files, not combining them. tick “aggregate CSS” and that number will go down significantly.

    hope this clarifies,

Hi @optimizingmatters, that absolutely solved my issue! I never thought that this tick could have such a heavy impact. Thanks for your help.

Hi @optimizingmatters, unfortunately, Autoptimize still crashes our site daily. All started about 2 weeks ago without any changes on the site. Yesterday, I completely removed CSS optimization, only ticked “optimize Javascript” (and aggregate) and “optimize HTML”. On a normal slight peak (100 visits/min), cache started again to get out of control (16 GB after 1 min): https://www.dropbox.com/s/zo408xoikkeo6ow/Cache%20out%20of%20control.png?dl=0
What could be the reason and how to solve it? Thanks in advance!

In our server error log, I can see that this issue always appears after the following error messages:

Try deactivating all of your other plugins until the error disappears. If it persists, keep all plugins deactivated and switch to the TwentyNinteen theme.

I think you may be confusing the separate issue that you raised here originally with the new issue. A site crashing is a symptom for which there could be many origins.

Tip: Try not to bump, instead, provide any additional information that adds value to your thread.

ah, didn’t get notifications of your updated @loano1 but did get one of anevins ‘ reply so here I am πŸ˜‰

On a normal slight peak (100 visits/min), cache started again to get out of control (16 GB after 1 min):

now that is new information, and we’re back an charted waters; cache size going up is due to code being aggregated that is unique to a page or even a page request. in the case of JS optimization this is almost always due to inline JS being aggregated, so start by unticking that option?
