In AO settings, there is a checkbox

    Also aggregate inline JS?

Let Autoptimize also extract JS from the HTML.
Warning: this can make Autoptimize’s cache size grow quickly, so only enable this if you know what you’re doing.

    Solution: Uncheck this.

OK, let’s start with some questions:
    * what were your settings exactly?
    * how big was the cache when you deleted it?
    * did you get warning mails from Autoptimize or from your hoster?
    * the autoptimize cache has a folder for JS and one for CSS; which one was biggest?

    Hi Frank,

    1) settings:
JS Options ON: First 2 options
    Optimize JavaScript Code?
    Aggregate JS-files?
    Exclude scripts: wp-includes/js/dist/, wp-includes/js/tinymce/, js/jquery/jquery.js, wp-content/cache, wp-content/uploads

CSS Options ON: First 3 options
    Optimize CSS Code?
    Aggregate CSS-files?
    Also aggregate inline CSS?

    HTML Options ON
    Optimize HTML Code?

    MISC
Save aggregated script/css as static files?
Minify excluded CSS and JS files?
Also optimize for logged in editors/ administrators?

    EXTRA
    Leave google fonts as is

    2) the cache was about 3gb
    3) No warning emails.
    4) I didnt see. I saw that the red warning at the top, checked the website wouldn’t load so I cleared it right away.

    OK, also disable

    * Also aggregate inline CSS?
    * Minify excluded CSS and JS files?

and keep an eye on things, chances of cache size problems should be small that way πŸ™‚

thanks! I made the changes. Is there an email notification in the plugin? I setup a uptime monitor on it just in case.

Getting HTTP Error 500 too often when I have the plugin on so i’m turning it off for now.

really, that’s pretty rare .. so what’s in the PHP errorlog?

if you want to troubleshoot some more you could always try disabling just CSS or just JS or just HTML or just Image optimization (incl. lazyload) so we learn where the problem originates?

    any news @therewardboss ?

Im trying this again as I had turned it off and got caught up with other work. I turned it on again yesterday and will monitor over the next couple of days.

It’s been over a week and cache is still at 1%. So that’s a good sign. I’ll check back in another 2 weeks.

Hi, I’ve been having some site outages which appear to be related to spikes in resources usage. When I troubleshooted the site, I noted that my WordPress needed an update, so I backed up the site and updated wordpress. Then I noticed that some of my icons were now left aligned instead of centered and some images were not appearing. When I turned off Autooptimize, the icons were back to the center and the images re-appeared. Deactivating Auto-Optimize appears to have stabilized things for now. I am also getting a warning about a PHP update that I need to take care of.

re. the icons (all other things are not related to AO really); First and foremost try to identify what is breaking things by just disabling CSS or JS or HTML or Image optimization (incl. lazyload). based on that we can see what the next step has to be πŸ™‚
