• I’ve been using Gator Cache for a long time. It’s simple and effective and usually works fine for WooCommerce shops as well. Thank you very much!

In order to improve the rendering and thus the speed and the PageSpeed score I tested “Autoptimize criticalcss.com power-up” (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/autoptimize-criticalcss/). If only Autoptimize criticalcss.com power-up runs, I have no rendering blocking and a top score. But very long loading times.

If I then switch on Gator Cache, all values fall back to “only” Gator Cache Level. The page then runs as without “Autoptimize criticalcss.com power-up”. The page loads faster again, but I have render blocking problems again and lower PageSpeed score.

Gator Cache and Autoptimize criticalcss.com power-up don’t seem compatible. What Autoptimize criticalcss.com power-up prepares/generates, Gator Cache apparently does not handle successfully. If this two plugins could be combined, the result would probably be top!

    Can this be done somehow?

  • Hey Desandro & Gator-guys & girls, I’m AO/ AO CCSS’s developer 🙂

Does Gator Cache do any JS/ CSS optimization and if so can you disable that?

    Hi, Frank,

I’m not a developer. I don’t know exactly how Gator Cache works.

In the settings I don’t find anything about JS/CSS. It seems that you can only exclude directories or pages from the cache.

OK, so are you currently using AO + AO CCSS + GC? can you share your URL?

Yeah, right now all three of them are on. I will send the link by e-mail.

What we found out so far is that on my site Gator Cache doesn’t work with Autoptimize. Not even without “Autoptimize criticalcss.com power-up”.

I activated Autoptimize and Gator Cache and deleted all caches. The first call of the page (still without cache) had Autoptimize in the source code. At the second loading, when the HTML cache came from GC, there is nothing left of Autoptimize in the code. GC and AO do not seem to work together on my site.

I have tested Autoptimize (and Autoptimize criticalcss.com power-up) now with WP Super Cache. With WP Super Cache I had also the same problem as with Gator Cache.

Without WP Super Cache the page had Autoptimize in the source code. With HTML-Cache, there was nothing left of Autoptimize in the code.

After hours of testing (with various plugins deactivated etc.) I found out that Autoptimize (and Autoptimize criticalcss.com power-up) works with WP Super Cache if the WP Super Cache setting “Late init. Display cached files after WordPress has loaded.” is disabled.

My tests have also confirmed that Gator Cache is much faster (much shorter load times) than WP Super Cache. Therefore I would prefere to use Gator Cache with Autoptimize (and Autoptimize criticalcss.com power-up) instead of WP Super Cache.

Therefore my question: Is there also a “Late init.” function in Gator Cache, which can be switched off to run Autoptimize? Or how do you get them to work together?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi @gatordog

Is there any update or solution for this problem in sight?
