• I’m using Blocksy theme and Autoptimize plugin causing/stopping the theme CSS on the live website, noticeably layout CSS.

Usually, my website all pages have white space on both sides of pages no matter what desktop resolution I’m using, also below the header and above the footer. A boxed layout it has white space around the content, but after the recent update from theme with Autoptimize plugin, I’m experiencing the above issues.

I’ve reached out to theme support, and they didn’t find anything wrong with their theme styles still they pushed an update with some changes on layout styles, but still, I’m not able to use this plugin because my website content looking very stretchy.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    OK, can you try to:

    1. disable the “also aggregate inline CSS” option OR
    2. add wp-content/themes/ to the comma-separated CSS optimization exclusion list OR
    3. add wp-content/plugins/ to the comma-separated CSS optimization exclusion list

Hey, Frank Thank you for quick replay and yes adding to exclusion list worked actually then I removed to check once and surprisingly no layout errors now.

But also have another problem, I have quote widget on website Autoptimizing stooping widget text colour

I supposed to want colour as white, but it’s showing all black.

OK, first things first; does the quote widget render correctly when “optimize CSS” is off? or if “optimize JS” is off?

I’ve tried two instances, and it works fine when I turned off optimize CSS.

OK, can you try adding plugins/quotes-shortcode-and-widget/ to the CSS optimization exclusion list (assuming the widget is from https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/quotes-shortcode-and-widget/) ?

    (@theviraltweets)

No Quote not from any plugin, It’s from the theme itself.

Since our conversation gave me a couple of ideas, I have tried below classes with an exclusion list, but nothing seems to work.

    .wp-block-quote
    wp-block-quote
    wp-content/themes/.wp-block-quote
    wp-content/themes/wp-block-quote

    wp-content/themes/.ct-quote-widget blockquote

    wp-content/themes/ct-quote-widget blockquote

    wp-content/themes/.ct-quote-widget

    wp-content/themes/ct-quote-widget

Try unticking “also aggregate inline CSS” maybe?

    Thread Starter theviraltweets

    (@theviraltweets)

Yes, it did work If I uncheck Aggregate all linked CSS-files but is that really a solution to my problem?

    Plugin Author Optimizing Matters

    (@optimizingmatters)

so disabling “also aggregate inline CSS” does not work?

    Thread Starter theviraltweets

    (@theviraltweets)

No, it didn’t it only worked if i disable Aggregate all linked CSS-files

    (@optimizingmatters)

and wp-content/themes is already excluded, right? so to confirm the problem is with a plugin try adding wp-content/plugins as well?

    Thread Starter theviraltweets

    (@theviraltweets)

No, I’ve removed them from the list because sometimes it’s working without adding to the list and again when I get layout problems I’ve added removed.

I see there is no solution to this?
And I don’t know whose problem it is, the theme or your plugin but I’m thinking to remove the plugin.
We shared 10+ messages all you gave are all possible scenarios and not even cared to look at my website (at least what I know) or theme.

Great support tbh and PROBLEM NOT SOLVED

What we’re trying to do here is pinning down the exact issue theviraltweets and that requires you to make changes and report back. I obviously cannot make those changes for you.

And yes I did look at your site, but I did not see the widget of which you shared a screenshot, so a URL to a specific page which features it could be helpful 🙂

Long story short: The theme (Blocksy) has advanced method to make performance of only theme as high as possible, so there’s need to try always different setup in customizer (results are always different as different hosting/ php/ general setup).
With blocksy – You need always experiment with performance options in customizer.
