    Hi Frank,

It is a very powerful and efficient plugin, speed up my site and helped a lot, thanks so much for that.

But now I have a problem with the plugin and have to deactivate it. Below is the situation:

On my site, I had a page with 9 sub menus under it, each sub menu comes with an image (I am using Menu Image plugin for that). Before installing Autoptimize, when my cursor touches the page tittle, the sub menus will appear with mages, I can click any image and it will link me to a sub menu. After installing Autoptimize, the plugin combed the 9 images with CSS sprites (I checked by YSlow and it said so), since the 9 images was combined, when my cursor touches the page tittle, I can see the sub menus but can not click the menus as they will disappear when my cursor moves from the page tittle.

Would you please help to solve the problem?

    Thanks a lot.

In general; in case of issues there are better ways to fix things then just disabling AO. The FAQ has some information that could be very helpful to solve problems with plugins that don’t like to be optimized.

Specific remark: Autoptimize does not create image sprites, but it can inline smaller images (base64-encoded, in the CSS). If your problem is with images not appearing and if “Generate data: URIs for images?” is checked, you might want to try deactivating that option.

So please do take some time to read the FAQ & try troubleshooting using that information. Let me (and others why might stumble on this thread) know how things work out or if you need additional support!

    Have a nice sunday,

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I checked the option “Generate data: URIs for images?”, and also Exclude the plugin CSS from Autoptimize, but still did not change the situation, do not know why.

Well, I would not generate data-uri’s (for now) actually. And did you look into what (how) “Menu Image” does? Maybe the problem is not CSS, but JavaScript? 🙂

You are right, it is JavaScript problem, now it is solved, thanks a lot. 🙂

Great! Might be intersting to share what exactly you changed, for future reference for other users of “menu images”?

Well, I closed the Optimize JavaScript Code option, I know it is not the best solution but it is OK for me, AO can still speed up my site without that. I am totally a newbie on such stuff, so I choose the simplest way.
