Avatar Option Resetting

Hello!
I have this installed and attempting to use it with BBPress. Under the settings of the plugin, there is the option ‘Display User Avatar’ which I assume is the option for the uploaded Avatar to be displayed on forum posts. This box is unchecked by default. When I check the box and save settings, the page refreshes and the box is once again unchecked.

I assume this is the reason why, although my Users can upload avatars in the edit profile pages, the avatars do not show up above their usernames in any forums posts they create. Does anyone have any recommendations for this? I have tried disabling all plugins (except BBPress of course) and nothing has worked.
