This is a design choice made by the theme’s creator – you can see that’s how the Gravatars are displayed on the demo Since the theme is older, and it was an intentional aesthetic decision, the Gravatar display for nested comments wouldn’t be something we change at this point since it will affect other users who may prefer the Gravatar sizes like they are.
Would you like some assistance to see if the Gravatars in nested comments can be made to remain the same size?

Hi.
When comments are not nested, a child comment displays a reduced size avatar like this: http://judyelf.edublogs.org/2014/10/27/do-not-go-gentle/.
I know, the theme version is older but I have tested with the latest WP + Theme versions and it works exactly the same.
I guess the theme should check if nested comments are activated before calculating the avatar size in reddle_comment function.
