I love the plugin and it suits me well, but one additional feature would make it perfect: avoiding duplicates.

Sometimes the featured image of a post is just that, a featured image. But sometimes it’s also inserted in the post itself, which makes it appear in the RSS feed anyway.

Can the plugin detect if the image is already inserted in the post and, if so, skip its original behavior?

    Thanks and congrats!

  • It doesn’t do any detection, it simply inserts the featured image into the feed.

It’s bad practice to set the same featured image and also add it into the post… it would be displayed twice on the website if the theme supports displaying featured images.

if you’re using featured images, you should use a theme that shows them as well, and you can avoid adding the image in the post as well, and that resolves the issue.

My theme fully supports featured images but it allows me to choose if I want to display it in the post or not, and with a few different layout options.

There are some cases in which none of those layout options suits us well, so we also insert it manually.

That’s why I suggested this feature for your plugin. 🙂

Ah yes, then I’d suggest for those posts, simply don’t set the featured image and use the one that’s included. You don’t have to set it for every post, only those that need it so it shows up in RSS.

I imagined you’d reply that, sorry for not explaining beforehand.

We do need to set featured images in every post because they’re used as thumbnails in our layout. The post doesn’t even need to have any image displayed, but it needs to have a featured image for layout purposes.
