I am with Hostpapa and am trying to get the backup to work properly, however it is causing faults on Hostpapa. It just started doing this, but now I cannot get a backup done. I have checked the settings which appear correct, nothing has changed in other words, yet this never happened before recently.

    Hi,

Please could you send us a copy of the latest backup log?
This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.
Please copy the content into an online service such as Dropbox or Pastebin, and post the link here.

    Regards,

    Hi,

Could you try to reduce the backup archive split size. This will split the backup into smaller, more manageable files.

To do this, open the ‘expert settings’ section of the UpdraftPlus Settings tab, and find the ‘split backups every’ option. Set this to 25Mb save your settings and run a new process.

If the issue persists, please ask your hosts/server admin to investigate their PHP error logs. These logs should contain more information on the exact issue that is causing the backup process to halt.

    Regards,

I cannot run a new backup due to it causing faults on the host platform. They will suspend my account. Would I not have error logs in my CPanel – mind you I would not know where to find them!

    Hi,

Please contact your host directly regarding the issue. It is possible that they do not allow backup plugins in their server.

Yes they do, Feedblitz has run without incident for over a year on my blog until just recently and I have no idea why. I uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.

    Hi,

Please can you ask your host what is the specific reason for suspending your account?

    This is from Account Manager:

    “Hi Karen,

I totally understand, but they are still faults prior that.

If there are no faults between today and monday, the account won’t get suspended, but if there are, most likely your system administrator will do so.

Be aware that whenever there are faults, it affects your website and other users on the same server, that’s why we cannot allow this to continue.

Please let me know if you have any questions, I am here to help you out.”

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay.

If I am not mistaken, the website is on a shared server?
UpdraftPlus has been designed to be dependent on your server resources depending on the number of files it needs to backup and the total size of your website. I would suggest upgrading your server in this case. You can also check this FAQ on how to limit resource usage on your server – https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-much-resources-does-updraftplus-need/

    Best Wishes,
    Bryle
