Hi,
as soon i upgraded to wordpress 2.3 (at least i ve only started experiencing it from then on.
I receive a pop up error when trying to make a backup in wordpress itself. (see screenshot)

i have this plugin installed : WordPress Database Backup 2.1.3
i have no chmodd errors for wp-content orso (chmodd 777)

Might want to make sure that the backup-df028 is 777.

Also there’s a 2.1.4 version of that plugin which I just downloaded, installed, and ran successfully.

yea its chmod 777 (see screenshot)
i also now updated it, still the same bug.

i tested it on 2 diffrent hosts,
servage.net and jaguarpc.com, both the same error; while i used to use this function fine.

Try changing the ownership. One way to do that is to delete backup-xxxx using your FTP program, then re-create it.
