Backup fails everytime
-
So I just installed a new instance of wordpress on my server and then installed eveything i need, including updraft plus and then configured the backups.
But when I click “Backup Now” it fails. This includes scheduled backups too!
I have several other wordpress websites installen running on my server and on those website updraft backups work fine, just not on this new installation.
I have uploaded a copy of the loag which you can see here:
http://takemarket.net/upload/updraft-log.txtThanks..

Do you have the plugin “W3 Total Cache” installed?
If so, then go into its settings, and turn off the ‘Object Cache’.
David
This also looks like a very infrequently-visited development site… if the site is not visited, then WordPress cannot run, and cannot hand over to UpdraftPlus to back up… on a development site, you either need to visit it a few times after starting a backup, or to set up something to do so automatically.

No W3 Total Cache plug-in is not installed.

Are you thinking of “http://takemarket.net”???’
If so – this is not the site I’m talking about – its just a dummy site on my server with nothing on it.
I just used it to post the updraft log so you could read it. π
Thanks a lot..

Hello there David..
If possible I would be happy for some help and direction here, I am sorry if you misunderstood me in anyway.
However the problem is still not solved and i would appreciate a lot of I could get some help.
I have updraft installed on 4 other WP website on the same server and on those websites, updraft runs like a Swiss clock. So I don’t understand why i doesn’t work on my newly installed WP website.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Kind regards / Daniel
Hi Daniel,
For some reason the WP forum isn’t sending me these messages automatically.
I’m confused. Is the log you linked not from the site you had a problem with? If not, then can you link one that is?
David
Hi David.
Yep you got it right. π
The link was only post the log, nothing else.
The new site that I’m working on is http://www.necedemalis.eu/
and for some reason it stubbornly refuses to run the backups.
Kind regards
DanielDoes it do absolutely nothing? If so, have you followed the link it displays for that situation?
Hi David.
Yep you are correct, it runs for a few seconds and then stops and produces a log file like the one from the above link..
(Abort this run: the backup_time parameter appears to be empty (this is usually caused by resuming an already-complete backup, or by your site having a faulty object cache active (e.g. W3 Total Cache’s object cache)) (Aug 30 16:55:45))
It’s funny though, I do not have total cache or such a plug-in like that on that site.
Oh!! I have one exception on that latter, that is the drop-in object for Win cache:
object-cache.php
WinCache Object CacheBut no other Caching software installed.
Here is the newest log file from today:
http://takemarket.net/upload/backuplog.30-08-2013.txtYes
If so, have you followed the link it displays for that situation?
Yes, i have read it; WP-cron is not disabled in my wp-config and “shell access” is for Linux, while my setup is Windows 2003 ENT server and it (cron/updraft backups) runs like a swiss clock on the other four WordPress sites that the server runs/hosts. I do of course have full administrative access since it my server.
The site is not in maintenance mode. So that option is not there either.
Pretty frustrating since it works on the other websites on the server – totally weird.
Thanks
Kind regards
DanielHave you tried disabling the object cache and seeing if that makes a difference?
David

David
Yes, I did remove the wincache php file and tested after that: no change on that part.
I’m itching my head right now.
Hi Daniel,
Basically the error message means that the data that UD saved (using the ordinary WordPress ‘save data’ functions) wasn’t there when UD next resumed. Dodgy database/object caches have always been the cause of this in cases that someone has got to the bottom of. But if yours is off, then yes, that is a bit mysterious. You’d need to get a consultant to try to trace through what happens to data in between the calls to WordPress’s functions to save data, and the call to retrieve the same data, to see where they get lost.
David
Hi David,
Thanks taking time to help and guide me in this matter.
I think you are right, since its a bit ” hocus pocus” (maybe the dark side of the force involved), so I guess need to expert help from outside.
I know how to get around with my servers and usually get them to do what I want – but this is a bit out of my league..
Again THANKS David!
Hi David
I’m writing this post more for the amusement of it. Sooo..
Hmm just a update of this case since this is so funny..
Suddenly out of the blue the backups have started working by themselves for no reason at all – I have done NOTHING that could influence in any way.. It suddenly just started by it self – isn’t that weird?
Some divine power, Wizard of OZ, or Gandalf? Who knows? π
Anyhow – have a great weekend.
Sounds odd, but glad you got it working!
David
Yup, thanks – and me too!
(Even though I did not do anything.. )
Again.. have a great weekend David!
Kind regards
Daniel
