I’m trying All-in-One WP Migration for moving a small site. Before importing a backup, is it better to remove old media/files first, or can I import directly and let the plugin replace everything safely?

    Hi dajuan54,

    I hope you are well.

You don’t need to remove old media or files before importing. All-in-One WP Migration is designed to handle everything for you. When you import a backup, the plugin fully replaces your site’s database and files (themes, plugins, media uploads, etc.) with the contents of the backup. So it effectively overwrites the existing site with the imported one.

That said, here are a couple of tips:
    – Make sure All-in-One WP Migration is installed and active on the destination site before importing.
    – After the import completes, you’ll need to log in using the credentials from the source site (the one the backup was created from), since the database, including user accounts, gets replaced.
    – It’s always a good idea to save a backup of the destination site before importing, just in case you need to revert.

In short, just import directly and the plugin will take care of the rest. Happy migrating!
