Backup halts

    Updraft has been working flawlessly for a couple years. Now backup hangs and never completes and I have to stop/end backup after several hours. They hang with a message such as next resumption: 0 (after -1552399579s). I’ve tried reducing chunk size to 50mb (was 400mb). Server load is 4-5 (10cpu) during backups.

    Please could you send us a copy of the latest backup log? This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.

    Mine’s working now. First I reduced the split to 100MG, and that worked, although it generated something like 20+ files (lots of uploads/images). Then I changed it to 200 and I think I ran it again and that worked. I will say that in between there were updates to plugins, the theme, and also wordpress (to 5.1.1), so I’m not sure exactly what made the difference. I even, early on, separated the upload backup from the theme/plugins/database backup, and that worked.

    There’s been at least one update since I posted, and another just today, so if you haven’t already, make sure all is up-to-date: wordpress, theme, plugin, php. And of course, make sure you have enough space if you’re uploading to googledrive/dropbox etc.

    There was indeed another update waiting. I had recently updated to 1.16.8 – 13/MAR/2019. After installing 1.16.9 – 22/MAR/2019 I was able to complete a backup. Later, I’ll kick the chunks back up to 400mb and see if it still works.
