Use FTP to make copies of your themes and possibly edited files. None of the WP files are (of course) in the database backup. What I usually do myself too, is make a WP export, since I find an export easier to use when needed than a database backup, which is putting back the old site and then you still have to upgrade. An export can (most of the time) be imported in a newly installed new version of WP. It is for 3.0. I exported five 2.9 installations, created a 3.0 network and imported the five exports. Worked like a breeze.

Got 3.0 installed fine — but I’m wondering about routine backup.
Will my method (see above) work okay?
I used the Backup Wizard in c-panel to backup the database.
And I used ftp to copy all the files to my computer.
Will my method (see above) work okay?
That should work perfectly.
