• I’d like some advice on how to go about backing up my WordPress sites. I’m running a dozen or so at present, and my only backup solution is Dreamhosts automated backups. Whilst unlikely, if Dreamhost goes down, I’m sort of screwed, and my Uni teachers were adamant that I should always have double redundancy backups :-). I’d like to be able to setup some kind of (inexpensive) system where my sites are fully backed up, maybe as frequently as once a week, and then stored separately from my Dreamhost hosting account.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers,

    Chris

  • I use the wp-db-backup plugin on all my clients’ sites. I have it set to email me a database backup once a day or once a week depending on frequency of change.

This doesn’t back up the files.

A lot of good things have been said about the Backup Buddy plugin – that is a paid solution.

There are free plugins in the WP plugins repository that back your files up to Amazon S3, an FTP server, and other choices. I haven’t used it but I’ve read several good articles about Xcloner recently.
