Since March 29, my database backup using BackUpWordPress has failed (no backups performed). In the interface I see this issue:

IMysqldump: Connection to mysql failed with message: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2054] The server requested authentication method unknown to the client

Can you please help me overcome the error? I have tried De/Re-activating the plug-in.

    Hi there –

I’m sorry for the difficulties you guys are having.

This message is related to one of the database backup options the plugin tries to utilize.

We use either the MySQLDump command or the PDO: mysql function and module. I think your message indicates that there is an issue with the permissions on your server. Can you check with your host to ensure that you are able to access one of the two options mentioned above for a plugin to run database backups with? In one case, we resolved this issue by having the host reinstall that package, this time including some options not included before.

Let me know what you find out and what your host says, okay?
