I’m trying to get backupwordpress working on a private site (i.e. behind .htaccess auth security) – I found a couple of discussions about this, which suggested that adding both localhost and the external IP address/range of the local server as exceptions to the .htaccess security should allow wpcron to trigger and make it work… but it doesn’t. Ever since I implemented the security, timed backups stopped.

Unfortunately the security is vital, and regular database updates (at least) would make a huge difference to my client’s peace of mind! Have you any further suggestions, or is this pretty much impossible?

    Many thanks.

Edit: I’m in a hosting account on a shared server, so somewhat limited as to what I can configure at server level – basically cPanel options.
