Hello, I’ve updated to the new 5.0.2 version and I have the same problems as other people.

    • all the previous backups aren’t listed (at least they haven’t been deleted, I can retrieve them via FTP)
    • there are no previous Jobs listed!
    • the UI is too clear, the fonts are too small, there’s not enough contrast
    • where do I choose the compression? Not I’ve created a new backup and the TAR file weighs more than 1GB instead of a couple of MBs as it was using ZIP!

I’ve created a new Job (and I don’t understand why the Jobs menu is not in the left column, I had to look into the advanced settings to find it), and there is a big bug: I can’t modify any setting! I need to change the name of the backup, the compression format, add some settings as the XML export, and I also want to synchronize the backup with the Dropbox, not create a new one everytime.

Last thing: even if I’ve set a different From/To address to send the log, the plugin is using the same address (the recipient one).

What have you guys do with the new version???

NB: I have a Pro licence, I’ve already sent a report.

    Hi,

Thanks for your feedback, and we’re sorry for the issues you’re facing after the update. Since you’ve already sent a report, we’ll follow up through your support ticket for more personalized assistance.

A few quick points in the meantime:

    • Old jobs not appearing: Your existing jobs should still be accessible at:
      👉 wp-admin/admin.php?page=backwpupjobs
    • Compression format: The new version currently defaults to .tar for backups. I understand you prefer .zip, and I’ll pass this feedback along to the team.
    • Editing new jobs: The updated flow limits direct job modifications. The focus is now on streamlined backups, but I’ll share your feedback regarding the need for more customization.
    • Log email settings: I’ll flag this issue for review to ensure the correct email settings are applied.

We appreciate your patience, and we’ll continue assisting you through your Pro support ticket.

    Best regards.

Hello @saranshwpm thank you for your reply, but I’m wondering why the decision of modifying so much a working plugin with many odd changes.

A backup plugin should create the smallest archive possible, and you are now using TAR without even the option to ZIP it? Do you understand that a zipped backup of about 140 MB now became a huge 1,2GB TAR file?! I don’t even dare to encrypt it…
New jobs: you mean I can’t modify a job? Are you kidding? So if I need to test different options, how is it possible, and how can you debug if something it’s not working?

    Hi @webby1973,

I appreciate your feedback and understand your concerns.

    • Backup Jobs in v5: The new version introduces two default jobs—Files Backup and Database Backup. These jobs cannot be edited, but you can enable/disable them, select your storage location, and schedule or run backups manually based on your needs. https://shottr.cc/s/1ugH/SCR-20250206-hjop.png
    • Backup File Format: The current version uses a specific file format for backups. We’ve noted user feedback regarding format preferences and passed it along to the team for review.

We value your input and are continuously working to improve the plugin experience based on user feedback. Let us know if there’s anything else we can assist with.

    Best Regards,
