backwpup needs work

The interface is confusing. On the dashboard, there is a one click backup button to the right that just seems thrown in there as an afterthought. It’s out of sequence with the instructions on the left and really should be removed.
The links at the left each take me elsewhere, but it looks like I need to go through each step and that makes no sense. The links should change the page below and not navigate away from the page with the steps.
The jobs won’t run unless define(‘ALTERNATE_WP_CRON’ , true ); is in the config, yet this is not documented anywhere, and users have to come here to discover it.
The DB backup lets one choose every database table and that seems like overkill. It’s not clear what happens if one adds a site (new tables0 after the job is created.
The job doesn’t demand a destination, yet it requires *some place* for the backup to go. I had to choose the folder option; otherwise, it just told me no folder was configured.
When I run backup manually, I get a blank screen that the developers have made no effort to fix despite numerous messages on these forums.
When choosing a folder to backup, the program doesn’t make it obvious where that folder is.
I finally got the backup to say it completed OK. However, the backup was actually in progress, and I discovered that only incidentally as the backup progress is on another page.
The backup process is quite slow.
