I just downloaded your Feed Them Social app and it isn’t working for me. I cannot get the Twitter API Token. When I click the button to get an access token, it throws back the error, “Oh No, something’s wrong. Bad Authentication data. You may have entered in the Access information incorrectly please re-enter and try again.”.

I have tried it with 3 different Twitter accounts and it’s failing on all of them. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi @civicsitedesign,

Please make sure that you are running the latest free Feed Them Social plugin version (currently v3.0.1), as there have many bug fixes and connectivity issues resolved, with Twitter in particular. Especially if you are running one of our FTS premium plugin extensions, the FTS free plugin is required for any of our FTS extensions to function.

If you are running an older version of the FTS free plugin, updating and trying to gain a Twitter access token will likely resolve the issue. If not, try the steps below.

    1) From your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins and try deactivating the Feed Them Social plugin(s).

    2) Then reactivate the plugin(s).

    3) Go to Feed Them > Twitter Options, and in the Access Token Required box, make sure the field is blank. If it is not, clear the field, scroll to the bottom and click the ‘Save All Changes’ button. Scroll back up to make sure the field has not repopulated.

    4) In another tab, sign into your Twitter account (note: the Twitter account must be public).

    5) Back in your WordPress Dashboard, go to Feed Them > Twitter Options. Click the white ‘Login and get my Access Tokens’ button, make sure all your Twitter parameters are set how you’d like, then (even if you see an error message, disregard) scroll down and click the green ‘Save All Changes’ button.

    6) Then go to the Feed Them > Settings page to generate your shortcode.

If the above steps do not fix the issue, go through the same steps, but instead of clicking the white ‘Login and get my Access Token’ button, click the ‘Add your own tokens?’ checkbox to manually enter your API key. To do this, follow these instructions: https://www.slickremix.com/docs/how-to-get-api-keys-and-tokens-for-twitter/
