Hi, I just tested this in my dev site and I was able to view Widgets content. I am also running WordPress 5.8. I also have Disable Gutenberg plugin installed because my theme does not work with Gutenberg Block Widgets.
I am wondering if this is related to your theme. Can you test one of WordPress default themes like Twenty Twenty?
Thank you.

No, it’s on my production site and I don’t currently have a test site set up, sorry. The theme is Weaver Xtreme if that helps…
Hi, can you test one of WordPress default themes like Twenty Twenty. You might also like to try the following plugin. It can help you troubleshoot this issue.

Let me know how you go.
Thank you.
Site Health is clean other than a remove inactive plugins recommendation. I don’t wish to switch theme on a live site, thanks.
Unfortunately I can’t reproduce this issue in my dev site.
Kind regards,
Hello,
I have the same issue on several websites. If “Incorrect query strings” option is activated, most of the widgets in the widgets administration section show Forbidden/403.
This only happens if the new block-based widgets editor is activated (introduced in WordPress 5.8).
Native legacy widgets like Categories, Menu, … are almost all showing the error message and errors are printed if I try to save.
The current solutions are to
- Disable XSS protection
- Disable the new widgets editor
@mbrsolution Could you have a look a this again please ? Maybe the widgets editor wasn’t activated ?

Edit :
I just found out the issue is already documented and active here : https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/bad-query-strings-breaks-widgets-2/
