• This may be coincidental, but ever since I upgraded to 4.1 I’ve been getting periodic errors that prevent me from accessing my WordPress admin screen. Here is one such example:

Both my wife (melaniejackson.com) and I (fitnessBytes.net) periodically get the following error accessing both her WordPress wp-admin and my own. Both websites use the same theme (Genesis) and plugins.

    Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.
    Cookie
    /n

I then clear my cookies and I’m good for a while longer. I generally get this error twice a day and never received it before the 4.1 upgrade.

Other common errors I receive reject image uploads with HTTP errors.

I’ve searched the net but find that no one else is experiencing these problems.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
