Baffling inconsistent results

I was happily working away, gradually finding all the issues that were getting a bad score on Google Page Insights. I got great results when I began activating the features of WP3 Total Cache. My page was scoring 87 and 88. I went to prepare another page, optimizing all my images properly in Photoshop. Ran Page Insights again on exactly the same page that had been giving me 87/88 and now it’s suddenly 72/56.

I went an emptied out all the cache in the W3 items and no help. I’m baffled. Nothing changed. It’s just a test page with a nextGen slide show in it. I didn’t change any of the images in that gallery. Why would this be all over the map like this?

Okay, I just ran it again, just for the heck of it, and now we’re back to 87/88. WTH!
