Hey Xenzirrll,
Are any other settings failing sticking?
Could you try switching to a WordPress default theme and see if that helps?
Thanks,
Gerroald
Tried switching themes. No change.
Removed the entry in the banned field. This time, the feature stayed enabled.
Tried to enter a single IP. Stayed enabled.
Tried to enter a block ending in .* and thats when the feature turns itself off again.
Hey Xenzirrll,
Are you using the most current version?
I’m not able to reproduce this yet. Can you share the IP block that you’re getting this on?
Thanks,
Gerroald
One of the IPs in my 404 log is 66.249.73.221
If I block just that IP, it appears to be working (everything looks enabled and listed correctly).
But if I try to add 66.249.73.* (because there are more 404s comming from this network range), the Ban Users field goes back into uncheck and appearing to be disabled.
Thank you for working with me. I’m not 100% sure I’m doing this correctly.
John
Additional –
Once I re-enable Ban Users, the 66.249.73.* entry is still in the list field (and therefore the DB table?) but I figure I should not have to be re-checking this box each time OR that the feature is actually On but the UI is somehow glitching?
John
I decided to multi-tab this issue and simply add all the individual IPs that were coming up. Was not as difficult as expected. I had just thought adding wildcards was going to be more effecient.
But my ban list is not long and it already appears to be working. Log files are now no longer several pages.
But if I can use Wildcards in the future with more certainty, that will rock.
Thanks again!
I just realized I never answered the original question.
This version is Version 4.6.13. just downloaded a couple days ago.
Is your hosting env Windows based instead of Linux ?
In other words is the server where the website is hosted running on Windows or Linux ?

Linux. Shared Hosting. Presumably a vhost, though as I customer I am not privy to the full server config.
Also, PHP 5.6.

Ok. Please verify that info from the iTSec plugin Dashboard page, scroll down to the “Server Information” part of the System Information metabox.
What browser and what version of that browser are you using ?
Is there an IPv6 address displayed when you click on the “Temporarily Whitelist my IP” button ?
###.###.###.### = IPv4
####:####:####:####:####:####:####:#### = IPv6
It is not a multi site WP by any chance ?
Do you have ANY ip address listed in the “Lockout White List” box of the Global Settings section on the Settings page ?
Did you manually enter the wildcard ip address into the “Ban Hosts” box or did you copy\paste this information ?
(I’ve dealt with a similar issue in the past where a hidden character hitchhiked into the Ban Hosts box while using copy\paste).
