Banner image darkened?

First, thanks for anyone who can offer help on this.

The photo I have loaded as the Parallax Row Background is quite vibrant, but when I view my webpage, it appears to have had a grey-wash or darkening filter put over it. I think it’s the same for any personal image used as the background on a section.

Is there a way to use the true photo, without it being darkened?

Can you use the true photo with one area, and have other ones be darkened (as they currently are)?
