Bars vs Circles

I am using the Events Calendar on a website but I prefer the “Bars” look rather than the Circles. The Circles is to difficult to see and if there are several events on a single day you can not click on a single event. You click on the “Day” and you get all the events for the day. This is not what I want.

The other issue I am having is that when I enter the script as a text for the calendar the bars do not show well on a small (phone) screen. The events run off of the phone screen.

The look I like has been attained by adding this script to a text box on the page. (This is the first calendar on the above page).

The second calendar on the page is a widget. It is the one that has the Circles on the events and not the colored bars. While this calendar appears well on a small screen (phone) the events are super difficult to see and not listed individually.

I am using events calendar version 6.4.7.3. I know this is a super old version BUT it is the only version where I can get a calendar that has the Bars instead of the circles. I do not know why but every time I have updated the Events Calendar version I can NEVER get it to display the events as a bar across the date instead of the incredibly hard to see circles.

I placed a calendar in the side bar on that page as well but I have no idea how to get the calendar to show Bars instead of Circles.
