Batch Updating Captions

Hi-
Is there a way to batch update captions on photos? When I import them from the media library, it picks up the caption from the attachment. But if I update the caption in the media library, it doesn’t update in Modula.

For various reasons I need to update captions regularly. I can import the captions using various import tools for the media library, but looking at the post and post-meta data it doesn’t seem possible for Modula. Help? I have a PRO license.

Hi @danscully,

Thanks for reaching out!
There is a way to synchronize the caption/title with the ones in Media Library. To do this you will need to you edit your gallery > then an image in the gallery > and leave the Title and Caption field empty > save the gallery.
If you leave them empty it will automatically get the title/caption from the Media Library.

Hi Mihaela-

So here is what I found:
-Create a gallery.
-Add image from media library with existing caption.
-Save gallery

Result: Caption appears on rendered webpage.

-Go back to media gallery and change caption.

Result: Old caption appears on rendered webpage

-Open Modula Gallery to edit
-Clear the caption field from the image in Modula

Result: New caption appears on rendered webpage.

It appears I need to clear the imported caption in order for it to go get the new caption. So is there a bulk-edit way of clearing captions from Modula galleries? I’m comfortable with php scripts if can point me to the right functions in your plugin.

You can add a function for the filter modula_shortcode_item_data, this one: https://github.com/WPChill/modula-lite/blob/dev/includes/public/class-modula-shortcode.php#L22
Example of such a function: https://github.com/WPChill/modula-lite/blob/dev/includes/public/modula-helper-functions.php#L78

But change it to always get ‘attachment caption’ instead: https://github.com/WPChill/modula-lite/blob/dev/includes/public/modula-helper-functions.php#L93
