BB Press Private Message

I have been running a WP site for about three years. I then had the stand alone BB Press site that went a long with my WP site. When I designed the site I simply had a Link that attached the two.

This last weekend I integrated My BB press site onto the Word Press site. After several tries we were able to move the site over and have almost all functionality back.

The one item missing is the Private Messaging, I am not sure if I am missing something, but we had this as a plugin on the stand alone version, Why can’t I find it now on the plug in version of bb press?

Many people Are saying you have to use Buddy Press. I did try that and was not happy about three additional pages that show up on the site. I also lost my signature ability with that. Furthermore I do not want or need a social network, I simply want my users to have the ability to send a private message.

Has anyone found anything, or have any codes that will help me to achieve this.

I do not want Buddy Press, it is way to complex and adds way to much to the site. I understand I can turn everything else off, and I did in my first test, however I still was stuck with these three extra pages as well as loosing some functionality in BBPress that I am happy about and do not want to loose.

I read somewhere that a BB press team member said this would not happen. I am hoping they have changed their minds and there is something out there that I can use for this purpose.
