    WooCommerce is free and it is obvious that it is free. Support is terrible. Upgrades screw up sites all the time. I have been using WooCommerce for the last 3 years and every upgrade, I dred!! And they put out a LOT of updates/fixes.

    Make sure you have your ENTIRE site backed up before making any changes/upgrades to the WooCommerce plugin. Make sure your Web Host can restore your entire site, because after the latest upgrade to WC 2.5.3 I am unable to login to the Admin section or view my site – at all.

    This happens frequently with this plugin. I would highly suggest looking for other eCommerce plugins, unless you know what you are doing with WooCommerce (php and css) and can spend enough time after every upgrade to make sure things work they way they should.

    Yes, I use child themes for all my changes – still have these issues with WooCommerce. Plus the Shop pages, Cart and a Checkout pages are not very responsive and look terrible on most devices, so you will have to do a LOT of custom CSS to make those pages look professional.

    I regret committing to WooCommerce. :/

    The fix release does not cause errors as far as we know. We test thoroughly and review all commits before release. It is most likely a plugin you have installed alongside not following best practices. We cannot prevent 3rd party code from causing a conflict if they do not check WC is actually active first.

    And they put out a LOT of updates/fixes.

    This is the first release in over a month.

    Oh yeah, thanks for mentioning that also!

    If you use WooCommerce, you will have to use a few plugins to make your eCommerce site have full functionality, like professional eCommerce sites. And most plugins have to be paid for, yearly, if you want any kind of support.

    So when an upgrade is released for WC or any plugins, you usually have to contact support to get something working the way it was working, before the upgrade. Support’s usual response is “It is most likely a plugin you have installed alongside not following best practices.” So another reason, you should really know your PHP and CSS before using WooCommerce.

    Have you actually found out what the error was? View the server error logs – if its one of WooThemes plugins at fault by all means be angry with us.

    I’m interested to know what it was so that the relevant author can be notified to prevent future happenings. Can you look this up for me or not?

    Thats another point. If you add direct function calls for WooCommerce functions, if WooCommerce is deactivated they will fatal error.

    If you can also provide your functions.php I can check for you 🙂

    The support is terrible because this is a public forum. Troubleshooting should not be done in a public forum. Especially when discussing/sharing installed plugins and system status reports.

    No I have not done that yet, once I have the time I will.

    IF the plugin is one that I have had enough problems with that I do pay for support, then I will reach out to them as I have done in the past.

    I go through this a LOT with WC, the theme and the plugins I use. This is one reason I wish I didn’t have WC. I know, I know, upgrades are necessary for security and to get up to date with society. 🙂

    I am in the process now of trying to remove as much customization as possible (theme and plugins) just to minimize the amount of time I have to spend troubleshooting my site after upgrades.

    And notice – I still gave WC 3 stars. Its not like I gave a bad review. Its just some of the frustrating things that I go through at least once a month and I wish I would have known about them beforehand. 😉

    I know you did, that’s why I want to clear this up 😉

    There isn’t anything majorly sensitive in system status. It’s there for us to help. A list of plugins is helpful if a problem plugin stands out.

    Let me know what you discover.
