Best Practice for Installing WordPress

    Hi all,
    Sorry if this has been answered but I’m having trouble wrapping my head around the order that you install WordPress. It seems like people typically just install on a live server and make tweaks to that live site. I come from a web dev background where you build on a dev server and then move a copy of that code to a production server. It’s my first time setting up a WP site, I have a Domain hosted with GoDaddy.com, should I just install right to GoDaddy? OR should I develop locally and then move it to GoDaddy once I’m ready. Is there a right way wrong/wrong way or does it even matter?

    Sorry for the verbose post just trying to learn.

    Some here will say live “only”; others local “only”. I don’t believe there is a “right” answer for everyone 🙂

    Personally, I do it on a remote server (e.g. GoDaddy) and either on the live domain, if it is a site for myself, or a sub directory on one of my accounts if it is for a client. The nice thing about live is that you can get input on the progress from others, and additionally, control when for a client.

    I use local installs for testing things out; direct access to the file structure is handy 🙂

    install it on your local machine. I also want to do it like this way.

    Hey guys,
    Thanks for the response. Yeah I think I’m over thinking it. I will just install straight to GoDaddy. I’ve come across a few articles specific to installing to GoDaddy but if either of you have any references you can point me to I’d be grateful. Thanks!
