better instructions please.

    I added the 1st code to my functions.php file and it crashed my site. Luckily, i had a backup functions.php file. Questions i have are:
    1. is there a specific place where you put this file in functions.php – top? bottom? after specific code?
    2. where do you put second set of code? you list 2 possible *.php files but there is nothing definitive in the directions.
