• Okay, I think WordPress is great, but honestly this has been a really annoyance of mine for a while now so I need to get it off my chest.

    Better. Plugin. Management.

Really simple – please allow us to choose what pages/categories etc., a plug in is activated on. More often than not, front end based plug ins load a lot of Javascript, predominantly jQuery. I don’t use jQuery, I use Mootools. I try to use as few plug ins as possible, but there is one in particular (wp-contactform7) that I can’t live without.

This plug in loads a lot of jQuery which I do not need on any other page, other than my contact page. So why am I not allowed to say, only enable it on that particular page?

This is just one example, I can imagine a lot of people would have this issue. I can’t imagine adding this kind of “advanced” plug in management would be too difficult, so please make it happen guys!

    Cheers.

  • It’s really up to a plugin dev to properly code their plugin. That being said, many folks don’t do it. For a vast majority of plugins though, it can be remedied.

Is an example specific to CF7 since you mentioned it. It would be nice to have options, but I’m not sure it can be managed through WP core. Plugins can load so many different things, how can WP handle every possible iteration? Better for plugins to load in a proper manner and only call their resources when needed.
