Blacklist Ranges
-
I am writing to submit a feature request regarding the IP management functionality on the Brute Force page. While the core protection works well, the current UI for managing the IP blacklist lacks a few standard quality-of-life features, making routine security maintenance unnecessarily time-consuming.
Currently, if I identify a cluster of bad IPs and want to block their entire range, the workflow is highly inefficient due to the following limitations:
- Tedious Deletion Process: If I have already added a dozen individual IPs to the blacklist, I have to delete them one by one before inputting the broader IP range.
- Constant Page Resets: With every single IP deletion, the page refreshes and resets, which makes clearing out multiple IPs a frustrating experience.
- No Search or Filter: There is no way to search or filter the existing blacklist to quickly locate specific IPs that need to be removed or modified.
- No Bulk Actions: There is no way to select multiple filtered IPs and delete them in bulk.
Proposed Solutions: To better align with standard security maintenance practices, I highly recommend implementing the following:
- Search/Filter Bar: Allow users to search the blacklist for specific octets or IP addresses.
- Bulk Deletion: Add checkboxes next to blacklisted IPs with a “Delete Selected” bulk action.
- AJAX Deletions / No Page Reload: Process deletions without forcing a full page refresh so the user doesn’t lose their place in the list.
Implementing these features would significantly streamline blacklist management and save administrators a considerable amount of time.
