• I get a blank page when I visit my site: a-panegyric.com

It used to be fine until I just checked today (after a couple of weeks) and I get a blank page. I haven’t made any changes to any of the files in the site. I have 2.8.1

    Any ideas please?

    Thanks,
    Kunal

Thanks for the link. I don’t have any plugins. My theme is very simple (subtleflux theme) with only text on the website and one image as the banner. I also don’t have Google Gears.

I just noticed that when I go to
    http://a-panegyric.com/wp-login.php

I end up on some other website (the lost password link points to catallacticanalysis.com). The title of the page also point to Catallactic Analysis. I have no idea what this website is or why I’m being redirected here. My domain name was recently renewed with my ISP but I’m not sure if that has anything to do with this…

    Thanks for any help!

Can you ftp into your site and delete the .htaccess file in your WordPress root folder?

    Hi,

    Please check with these options:

-> Upgrade your wordpress to the latest version
-> remove all unwanted code from htaccess
-> disable all plugins and enable it one by one to find out the culprit.
-> change your blog theme to default to rules out theme level problem.

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

I deleted the .htaccess (residing in /public_html, which is where the wp-content, wp-admin and wp-includes directories reside) and still see the same problem. I renamed it to a different file as well but the problem persists. This is what the .htaccess looked like:

    # Begin IP blocking #
    Order Allow,Deny
    Deny from 58.65.232.0
    Deny from 58.65.232.33
    Allow from all
    # End IP blocking #

Shane – I don’t have any plugins and unfortunately, I can’t even login to my blog to change the theme etc. Any time I go to the wp-login page, it takes me to that catallacticanalysis.com site.

I guess I can try upgrading but I’m not sure if that’s what at the root of this issue…

Shane G: quit posting generic replies to almost ever post you comment on, esmi already posted these fixes anyway.Seems like you’re not really being helpful you’re just trying to pretend to help to get noticed πŸ˜‰

kufloyd: I’ve read horrible reviews about StartLogic so I would avoid using them in the first place but either way, did you recently transfer the domain or alter any of the domain settings (not in wordpress). Also check with your host and see if the problem is on their side. It COULD have nothing to do with WP at all.

EDIT: if you REALLY don’t want to upgrade you can just download the latest version and install it in a different folder to test if that is the problem before you upgrade. Keep in mind though that upgrading to the latest version is always encouraged.

Another way to test would be to upload a simple .html file to see if you can access it, this would narrow it down to most likely being a WordPress problem.

My domain name was recently renewed with my ISP

This might explain a few things. I can’t think of any way in which WP could manage to redirect to a completely different site all by itself.

Sounds more like a DNS/nameserver problem…which would mean contacting the hosting provider. Or the DN registrar, if the name was registered elsewhere.

Now, my website (a-panegyric.com) is redirecting to another site dvindicators.com which, it appears, was registered with StartLogic just yesterday:

    http://www.whois.net/whois/dvindicators.com

I’m talking with StartLogic tech support but they’ve been really slow in resolving this issue. While I’m investigating this issue with them, does anyone know why such website redirection might be happening?

I also have some directories/files that I had created (using DreamWeaver, before I had WP installed) that I can access now. For example: http://a-panegyric.com/samples/samples.html

The problem I think is specific to any and all directories/files that I created using WP, including the root directory (a-panegyric.com)

Most odd. Just throwing this out there to see if it makes anyone’s brain click, but, I can access:
    http://a-panegyric.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/thesis.pdf
    http://a-panegyric.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/2-300×169.jpg
    http://a-panegyric.com/samples/samples.html

    …but nothing WordPress/PHP related.

Is it possible to create this effect with the php.ini somehow? Or a .htaccess in a higher directory? Might be a million miles out there with those though.

Actually, presumably you’ve checked your wp-config.php file to check they do actually still contain your database details?

Yes, the database/user/password settings in wp-config match those in the MySQL database..this file hasn’t changed since I was last able to access my site.
